BENJAMIN’s Foodbank

ESTABLISHED YEAR: 2010
PREFECTURE OF ACTIVITY: PIERIA

PURPOSE OF OPERATION:
Greece is experiencing the economic crisis very badly from 2008 until today, as a result of which a large percentage of the population lives below the poverty line (432€ /month ή 435$ USD /month). In 2013 approximately 2,500,000 people lived below the poverty line. Most single-parent families supported by BENJAMIN have an annual income below €5,000 or $5600 USD
The number of single-parent families facing poverty is increasing. This is why BENJAMIN founded the food and clothing bank in order to help these families in need. The fact that the economic condition in our country is getting worse , has as a result even greater demand for food from families in need of material support. Already, the demand for food is far greater than the first budget available to us. The needs are much greater than we could imagine. This program directly responds to vital needs of our society and we ask for everyone’s valuable help.
